Announcing macchina.io REMOTE 2.18: A Fresh New Look

We’re excited to announce the release of macchina.io REMOTE 2.18.0 — a release that puts user experience front and center with a modernized web user interface.

A Refreshed Web UI

The headline feature of this release is a fresh look for the macchina.io REMOTE web user interface. Whether you’re managing a handful of devices or overseeing a fleet of thousands, you’ll immediately notice a cleaner, more contemporary design that makes day-to-day device management feel more intuitive and pleasant. The familiar workflows you rely on are all still there — they just look a whole lot better.

Under the Hood Improvements

While the new UI takes center stage, this release also delivers important behind-the-scenes refinements:

• Better noVNC path handling: The bundled noVNC web application has moved from /novnc to /.rm/novnc, eliminating conflicts with device web applications that use noVNC under the same path. Existing integrations are covered by a transparent redirect for backwards compatibility.
• Improved custom error pages: When a custom error page is enabled, the reflector now passes through a host parameter from the X-Forwarded-Host header, giving you more context for handling errors behind reverse proxies.
• Updated foundations: Internal libraries and third-party components have been upgraded across the board. The bundled HAProxy is now at release 3.2.13, and Docker images are now based on Ubuntu 24.04.
